Dar Serca Foundation is an organization operating within the structures of the Polish Aviation Group (PGL). Its main goal is to support the health of LOT Polish Airlines employees and their families through various forms of assistance.
In April 2020, LOTAMS, together with the Warsaw University of Technology (Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering) and the Kielce University of Technology (Center for Laser Metal Technologies within the Faculty of Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering), signed an agreement to implement a research project entitled “Development of a technology for processing primary and secondary aluminum and composite structures” (acronym: TECHNIKS). The project received funding from the National Centre for Research and Development as part of the “Ścieżka dla Mazowsza” program.
The research team from the Warsaw University of Technology was led by Dr. Eng. Rafał Kozera from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering.
The research work lasted three years. The project is currently at the stage of implementing the technology into industrial practice. The benefits of the developed technology include: shortening the time required to remove coatings, improved precision, reduction of toxic substances currently used in such processes, partial automation of the process. It is also worth highlighting the selectivity of the developed technique, which enables removing the coating to a specific thickness — a capability not achievable with chemical or mechanical removal methods.
